Losing and Finding Oneself
Impossible Music isn’t out until July, but advance reading copies have been circulating for a while and people are starting to report back on it it. There’s been some chatter on Goodreads, which I generally avoid until the book is old news, at which point I feel better able to withstand unfiltered reader feedback. Now the first critical review has arrived, from difficult-to-impress Kirkus.
To say that I was nervous would be an understatement. Imagine my relief on seeing words like “sympathetic and relatable”, “unpretentious”, “honest, satisfying and surprisingly original”.
You can read the whole review here. No spoilers. Includes this excellent short summary of what the book is about: “the process of losing and finding oneself after a life-changing event“. I’m definitely stealing that.
