Rough Edged Melodies
Impossible Music’s imminence has inspired me, it seems. I’ve been writing like mad, fishing through my audio archives for works I left unfinshed or didn’t have the resources to explore back in the day. Below and to the right you’ll find four links to new works in a variety of different styles that are based on pieces I originally laid down in 1982-3, 1985 and 1991. On all of these, I am the sole musician and composer.
The instrumentation is … idiosyncratic, dictated largely by what I could lay my hands on at the time. The earliest recordings feature recorder, autoharp, piano, tuning fork, windscreen wiper, Slinky, and so on. By 1985 I had graduated to basic synths (I was working for Yamaha Music Australia at the time). In 1991, I had discovered sequencing on my trusty Amiga. At that point in my life, writing got in the way and I put music aside, largely.
I am making up for lost time now.
